Rancilio Specialty Sponsors the 1st Crack Coffee Challenge in Japan

On September 13th, Rancilio Specialty along with our partner Navy Blue invite all coffee roasting enthusiasts to the third edition of the 1st Crack Coffee Challenge at Tokyo Culture Culture in Tokyo.

This year’s event, anticipated to be more festive than ever, began with a preliminary round where over 100 competing roasters matched their roasted beans to a standard sample. The six finalists, selected on July 26th, will now compete in Tokyo, focusing on presentations that showcase the true artistry of roasting.

As official sponsor, Rancilio Specialty offers contestants the opportunity to use the RS1’s Advanced Temperature Profiling technology. This state-of-the-art multi-boiler machine will assist participants in creating exceptional coffee-based drinks using their own roasted beans. The RS1’s ability to personalize temperature profiles for each extraction allows competitors to highlight the most intrinsic flavors of single-origin coffees and blends, adding significant value to their craftsmanship.

The 1st Crack Coffee Challenge is a distinctive competition for young roasters aged 18 to 35, emphasizing both roasting technique and presentation. Unlike traditional contests, it challenges participants’ approach to coffee, redefining the standards of roasting competitions.
