The SCA barista competitions get into full swing with the CIGS final and CILA semi-finals.
The new Italian champion of the Coffee in Good Spirits competition is Andrea Villa, who beat Marco Poidomani and Vito Alberto Patrimia, who came second and third respectively, in the final. It was a hard-fought contest, with the usual stars battling it out for the title, that kept the fans in the SIGEP Rimini Coffee Arena in suspense until the very end. The seven competing baristas presented the judges with their sophisticated drinks, masterfully combining the world of coffee and the art of bartending. Rancilio Specialty RS1, the official sponsor of the competition, once again confirmed its leading role on the SIGEP stage by offering the best of coffee extraction technology at the service of the finalists’ creativity and mixology skills. Andrea Villa was awarded by Luca Creti – Rancilio Group’s Italian Sales Director – with a Rancilio Grindtec Stile on-demand coffee grinder and a commemorative plaque. As the new Italian CIGS champion, even though he has established himself as the Italian number one in the category on numerous occasions, Andrea Villa also gained the pass for the WCIGS World Finals to be held at the WOC in Copenhagen next June.
The Latte Art semifinals
The SIGEP competition stage was animated throughout the afternoon with the very popular challenges of the Latte Art semifinals. A stadium cheer accompanied the competing baristas in the Free Pouring and Designer Latte challenges. The steam technology of Rancilio Specialty RS1 ensured that all competitors worked with safety and quality, giving the audience a top-class show. At the end of the day, it was announced the names of the qualified baristas who will compete for the title in the final of the Italian Latte Art Championship: Michele Intravaia, Maurizio Boi, Alessio Panero, Manuela Fensore, Sayuri Kitami and Stefano Cevenini.
