Nicolas Mosco Wins the Title of Espresso Italiano Champion 2024 with Rancilio Specialty RS1

On June 19, 2024, Nicolas Mosco, a 25-year-old from Campolongo Maggiore (Venice), earned the title of Italy’s best barista by winning the Espresso Italiano Champion 2024 in Lipomo (Como).

The competition, organized by the Istituto Espresso Italiano (IEI), saw Mosco surpass 11 finalists by preparing four espressos and four cappuccinos in just 11 minutes. Equipped with the professional espresso machine Rancilio Specialty RS1 and the professional grinder Rancilio Kryo, the young winner impressed the judges with his precision and professionalism. The second and third places were awarded to Ilaria Izzo and Matteo Colzani, who will join Mosco in the international phase.

The competition highlights the importance of professional training in the sector, as stated by IEI president Luigi Morello. Mosco, passionate about coffee since a young age, pursued hospitality studies and worked for six years in a coffee company.
